Underfloor Air Conditioning System (UfAC) Introduction
 


UfAC system makes use of the plenum beneath a raised access floor to create the air ventilation zone, eliminating the need for ceiling-based services and associated duct and pipework. 

The concept of UfAC for use in both new-build and refurbishment is now recognized as one of the most sustainable solutions for commercial buildings. With 10% saving in building height compared with traditional ceiling-typed AC system, UfAC not only permits the savings in concrete, steel, curtain walling risers and lift shafts but also reduces embodied energy and carbon footprint.

Each floor is divided into zones of up to 300m2. Each zone is supplied with ventilated air by an air handling unit (AHU) or Conditioned Air Module (CAM). Conditioned air is then delivered into the space by a Fan Terminal Unit. Used air returns back to CAM for re-conditioning either at floor level (CAM-C System) or at high level (CAM-V System). Both systems can be configured by either chilled water or direct expansion.
 

 
AET’s system is proven to offer solutions to unique design challenges. UfAC system is inherently flexible, modular in design; since equipment is installed at floor level, it can be easily maintained and re-arranged to suit the demands of today’s workspace.
