This event is organised by Hong Kong Green Building Council Limited (HKGBC).

To protect the environment and sustain the future for our next generation, smart usage of renewable energy is the key to reach such goals. The Hong Kong and China Gas Co. Ltd. has worked with Hospital Authority to develop a first commercially success case of utilising landfill gas for a distributed energy system at Tai Po AHML Nethersole Hospital. This system generates electricity with landfill gas and recovers the waste heat from flue exhaust & jacket cooling water for steam and hot water generation. The overall system efficiency is above 80%. There is also a Wall Painting Competition for Primary and Secondary School students at Tai Po area for decorating the plant room with themes of green and sustainability.

Such project has set an excellent example of smart usage of renewable energy, advantage of distributed energy system and social engagement on sustainability.

Ir Don H.K. CHENG is a Chartered Gas Engineer. He is a Member of the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) and Member of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. Don received his academic trainings in Chemical Engineering, Statistics and Actuarial Science.  He has 20 years of experience in gas engineering, product development, marketing and sales. He is currently the Commercial & Industrial Marketing & Sales Manager of the Hong Kong and China Gas Co. Ltd. in charge of commercial and industrial customers and applications in Hong Kong. Recent projects include gas absorption chiller system in theme parks, desiccant dehumidification in pharmaceutical factories and gas incinerator system in crematoriums.
