Hong Kong, 14 August 2024 - Co-organised by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC), Hong Kong Green Building Week (HKGBW) 2024 will be held from 21 to 29 September. At the threshold of its twelve edition, the annual mega public campaign has gone a long way in educating the public on the importance and benefits of green building. Under the theme of "Move Forward with Green Building. Next Station: Carbon Neutrality.", the 2024 instalment of the campaign invites all walks of life in the city to hop on the "Green Building Express" where a slew of fascinating activities is in store to forge ahead with decarbonisation. One of the highlights is the first Green Building Exploration Fair, featuring six fun-drenched interactive zones to introduce various innovative green building technologies to the public. In addition, there will be a creative green workshop series that aims to help the public understand green building in an interesting way. The Exploration Fair seeks to demonstrate how the innovative technologies can be incorporated into green building to reduce carbon emissions throughout its life cycle, from planning and construction to operation and retrofitting. Also making a captivating debut is the Green Transport X Building Tour, taking participants on a journey on tram to explore ten green buildings on the Island side under the guidance of our "Green Building Tour Ambassadors". Meanwhile, the Green Building Guided Tour cultivates in the public mind to the message of low-carbon living through guided tours and workshops. Be part of the green gala and register for any of these fantastic activities on the online ticketing platform POPTICKET! Let's hop on the "Green Building Express" towards carbon neutrality by 2050!

Biz-Green Dress Day: Driving Office Decarbonisation Culture Through Four Green Building Powers
Meanwhile, the Biz-Green Dress Day will be held on 5 September as a signature annual programme of the HKGBW. With the support of more than 220 companies and organisations, the programme encourages employees from both private and public sectors to dress light at work, with breathable attire to keep us cool as we step up energy saving and emission reduction by relying less on air-conditioning. As with previous years, employees are encouraged to dress up in stylish and professional attire in the colours of red, blue, green and yellow, echoing the theme of "Four Green Building Powers" of "Health and Well-being", "Resource Efficiency", "Environmental Friendliness" and "Innovative Elements". Employees of participating companies and organisations are invited to upload their Biz-Green outfit photos to their companies' social media platforms and compete for awards such as "Biz-Green Style Award", "Most Popular Award" and "Most Engaged Award". The challenge serves to raise awareness for environmental protection and decarbonisation, not only in workplaces but also everyday lives.

Collect Stamps to Win Prizes in "Green Building Exploration Fair" Theme Zones
The first "Green Building Exploration Fair" of HKGBW will open to the public free of charge on 21 and 22 September. During the two-day fair, visitors will experience six interactive theme zones and three creative green workshops, all the way picking up local trends in green building development. The first zone centres on "Design & Planning", showcasing green building designs using urban simulation and AR technology. The second zone, titled "Construction", allows visitors to have a hands-on experience of the innovative Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) using a mechanical crane. The third zone called "Operation & Maintenance" demonstrates how green buildings achieve net-zero emissions through energy management systems, and the fourth zone, "Retrofitting", uses mini games to shed light on how retrofitting solutions help enhance energy efficiency for existing buildings. The fifth zone, "Expert Talks", taps experts to share interesting knowledge and trivia about green building and environmental protection. Lastly, an interactive booth for plastic upcycling and three creative workshops converge at the "Green Workshops" to raise public awareness of environmental protection and decarbonisation in daily lives as we pursue our goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. The three workshops, namely "STEAM X DIY Wind-Powered Car", "Recycled Plastics X Multipurpose Hook" and "Upcycle Banner X Living Greenery", will be available for registration from 14 August onwards.
