Hong Kong, 14 July 2022 – Co-organised by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC), the annual public campaign Hong Kong Green Building Week 2022 (HKGBW 2022) celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The campaign, themed “10 out of 10 for Green Building. Carbon Neutrality by 2050!”, will be officially launched on 24 September.

To echo this year’s theme, HKGBW 2022 has highlighted 10 crucial green building elements, including Smart Energy Design and Renewable Energy, etc., and offers a diverse line-up of activities in which the public can participate and celebrate the 10-year milestone of HKGBW. As an opening programme of the HKGBW 2022, the “10 out of 10 for Green Building KOL Video Competition” will be launched from 14 July. It aims to encourage the public to learn about the importance and benefits of green buildings, by acting as green building KOLs to capture the beauty of green buildings and introduce their sustainable features with videos up to three minutes in length.

A free video production workshop will be offered, in which Mr Penny CHENG, an experienced advertising director and Mr Jonathan CHEUNG (Jon Jon), a popular YouTuber will share valuable filmmaking tips that will definitely inspire the participants to produce creative videos for the competition.

“10 out of 10 for Green Building KOL Video Competition”:
Express Your Creativity by Three-minute Videos to Win Prizes

The “10 out of 10 for Green Building KOL Video Competition”, co-organised by the CIC and the HKGBC, will be held from 14 July to 14 August. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of HKGBW, all submissions must develop from a theme related to “10” and “Green Building”, and capture one green building from the ten designated local green buildings. The public is encouraged to act as green building KOLs, capturing the beauty of green buildings and introducing their sustainable features by short videos. Throughout the competition, the public can learn the benefits of green buildings and the importance of carbon reduction. There are no restrictions in terms of presentation style. Interesting videos can help raise carbon reduction awareness – and stand a chance to win prizes.

To encourage more people to take part, the competition consists of a Student Group, an Open Group and a Parent-Child Group, and is open to both individual and team entries. The competition is well supported by the industry and academia. The judging panel comprises experts in the communications, advertising, architectural and sustainability industries, such as Mr Penny CHENG, an experienced advertising director and founder of the Penny Limited; Ms Oliver CHAN, a renowned director and screenwriter of “Still Human”; Jon Jon, a popular YouTuber; Dr Donna CHU, Associate Professor of School of Journalism and Communication, CUHK; Dr Terri CHAN, Assistant Professor of Department of Communication Studies, School of Communication and Film, HKBU, and Mr Alan KAN, Professor of Practice, School of Design, PolyU. Winning videos might also win the chance to be posted on Mr Penny CHENG, Ms Oliver CHAN and Jon Jon’s social media accounts – quite possibly making overnight stars of the winners.
