Showcasing Sustainable Initiatives at 2024 MIECF

The Council co-hosted a joint exhibition booth with BEAM Society Limited at the 2024 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2024MIECF) from 28 to 30 March 2024 at The Venetian Macao. Throughout the event, the two organisations showcased their efforts in building a carbon-neutral community and expanding the reach of BEAM Plus beyond Hong Kong.

During the exhibition, we were honoured to have the presence of Mr TSE Chin-wan, BBS, JP, Secretary for Environment and Ecology and Dr Samuel CHUI, JP, Director of Environmental Protection at our booth.

Themed “Reaching the Dual Carbon Goals through Green Transformation”, the 2024MIECF was hosted by the Macao SAR Government. It was co-organised by the governments of the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region (PPRD), and coordinated by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA).

The event served as the third professional forum and exhibition held in succession on “carbon neutrality”, accompanied by a string of professional international forums, exhibitions, and business matching, as well as a Green Public Day and various exchange activities. Together, these events and initiatives have helped to advance green and sustainable development in line with the country’s "dual carbon" goals and key environmental protection policies enacted by the Macao SAR Government.

The HKGBC and BSL will continue to look for certification opportunities in the Greater Bay Area and extend the influence of BEAM Plus beyond Hong Kong. By working together, we can address climate change and other environmental challenges while also promoting high-quality development that supports the region on its journey to carbon neutrality.

Our booth was visited by Mr TSE Chin-wan, BBS, JP, Secretary for Environment and Ecology (middle), and Dr Samuel CHUI, JP, Director of Environmental Protection (2nd right).

As BEAM Plus enters its 28th year of operation, a generalised version is being developed to extend its application to projects beyond Hong Kong. The aim is to enhance its convenience of use and better serve the global building industry.
