Hongkong Land Hosts Panel Discussion on Collaborating with Tenants to Improve ESG Goals

Hong Kong is taking bold steps towards reducing its carbon intensity by 2030, and the real estate sector plays a crucial role in the city’s journey towards achieving the target. With buildings accounting for 90% of electricity consumption and generating over 60% of Hong Kong's carbon emissions, it is imperative for property developers and tenants to collaborate effectively to achieve sustainability goals.

Recognising this need, Hongkong Land, as one of the leading property developers in the city, is hosting an insightful afternoon of panel discussions to explore best practices and challenges in this area.

This event will bring together industry experts and partnering tenants to delve into the concept of "ESG as a Service" and Hongkong Land's Sustainability Framework 2030. The discussions will also shed light on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and PropTech in achieving sustainability goals and discuss how property developers can support tenants’ sustainability efforts through partnership programmes.

The event will feature esteemed speakers from Hongkong Land, including Neil ANDERSON, Director and Head of Office, Commercial Property, Mark LAM, Head of Investor Relations & Corporate Sustainability, Andy YEUNG, Director and Head of Technical Services, and Natalie WU, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility. Additionally, partnering tenants will share their perspectives, offering a comprehensive view of the challenges and opportunities faced and plans for the future.

  • Date & Time: 5 September 2023 (Tuesday), 2:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Venue: Centricity, 2/F, LANDMARK Chater House, Central
  • Topics of Discussion: ESG as a Service, AI and Proptech, Landlord/Tenant Collaboration on Sustainability

HKGBC's CPD Event - Green Building Tour to AIRSIDE

In July, the Hong Kong Green Building Council, in collaboration with Nan Fung Group, organised a CPD event for green building practitioners. This green building tour of AIRSIDE, which attracted the participation of 41 green building practitioners, demonstrated how architecture can effectively incorporate the principles of sustainable development within the community.

Participants learn about the sustainable development of architecture at AIRSIDE.

AIRSIDE is a 1.9-million-sq.-ft., mixed-use commercial development in Kai Tak. The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals were adopted in its design blueprint. It is also the first development in Hong Kong to receive the five most recognised green-building certifications, including BEAM Plus Neighbourhood (ND) Platinum, BEAM Plus New Buildings (NB) Provisional Platinum Certificate, WELL V.1 Platinum Final, LEED C&S V.4 Platinum Certification, and China Green Building Label 3 Stars.

To advocate a sustainable green lifestyle, AIRSIDE supports an array of unique facilities, including a number of firsts in Hong Kong such as Hong Kong’s first smart bicycle parking system, automatic refuse collection system, and the first Hong Kong commercial development connected to the Kai Tak District Cooling System. The smart bicycle parking system provides 48 parking spaces to promote low-carbon mobility in the community. To streamline the waste management process, the automatic refuse collection system features a weighing device and collects four types of waste and recyclables, including general waste, paper, plastic bottles and aluminium cans. Furthermore, the district cooling system can offset 587 tonnes of CO2, which is equal to planting around 9,700 trees annually, making a substantial contribution to combatting climate change.
