CPD Event - Technical Visit to NanoFIL Filter Factory and R&D Laboratory

This event is organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council.

Is there any HVAC filter that has a high filtration efficiency and a low pressure drop, while the frequency of replacement is reasonably low? This will eliminate a lot of landfill waste and reduce the costs spent on HVAC operation and maintenance.

NanoFIL Sterilizing Nano-Filter is one of the innovative technologies listed in EMSD’s E&M InnoPortal, which is able to achieve the above objectives. It can be made as a 2” thick mini-pleated filter that can easily fit into the size of most AHUs in buildings.  More importantly, it can totally replace a 2” pre-filter and a 12” metal box filter/bag filter, thus achieving a big saving in installation space. This is made possible because of the use of nano-fibre electrospinning technology, and the composite filter material combines nano-fibres and electrostatic fibres together, with unique air purification ability. The efficiency is better than other air filtration products on the market, and the pressure drop is also lower than the traditional pre-plus-primary filter sets. Further details can be found at:

The concerned company, Nanofiltration Technology Ltd, is a local company that received Innovation & Technology Fund from the Government and joined the HKSTP Incubation Programme in 2016. It also conducted an R&D project with NAMI for the development of sterilizing nano-filter using nano-technology.

Their factory is located in Tsuen Wan. It is equipped with state-of-the-art electro-spinning machine for nano-fibre membrane production, ultrasonic stitching machine, pleating machine and a laboratory for R&D. In particular, there is a filter testing rig to EN 779 standard. Filtration efficiency and pressure drop of air filters can be tested in a couple of minutes.  During this visit, participants will have a chance to look at these advanced manufacturing facilities.

Important Notes

1.  Successful registrants will receive an email confirmation with details in due course.

2.  Please be punctual. Latecomers will NOT be picked up and will NOT be allowed to join the visit. 

3.  The event will be cancelled when the Typhoon Signal No.8 or above, or Black Rainstorm Signal is hoisted 3 hours before the event commences.

4.  HKGBC will arrange personal accident insurance for participants within the age range 18-75. Persons outside this range may procure their own insurance if deemed necessary.

5.  Participants should note that neither HKGBC nor the parties concerned would accept liability in connection with this event.

6.  No Show / Cancellation – Cancellation must be made by email to eventregis@hkgbc.org.hk with justification on or before 31 March 2023, 12:00noon. Please quote your registration number in the email. There is NO refund on absence from the event and cancellation made after the deadline.

7.  If you feel unwell, have fever or any sickness symptoms, please refrain from joining the visit. Refund of fee will be arranged by HKGBC upon presentation of doctor’s certificate.
