HKDI - ”WASTE AGE:WHAT CAN DESIGN DO? ” Exhibition (3 Feb - 7 May)

Supported by the Hong Kong Green Building Council, the "WASTE AGE:WHAT CAN DESIGN DO?" Exhibition of HKDI Gallery would be held in Hong Kong on 3 February 2023 (Friday) - 7 May 2023 (Sunday).

Organised by the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), the exhibition marks HKDI’s first collaboration with the Design Museum would present the current crisis and design’s role in the problem. Waste Age would tell the story of the environmental crisis created by our ‘take, make, waste’ economy. It would also explore how design can transform our waste into valuable resources, promote new ways of living with the Earth and not from it, and where there is no such thing as waste.

Divided into three topics, this exhibition would explore what lies beyond our current toxic waste infrastructures, exploring the environmental, social and geopolitical forces at work. Visitors would be immersed in the waste crisis before being shown the transformative potential of new design approaches that are redefining fashion, construction, food, electronics or packaging and the new materials that would help shape a cleaner future. This is an exhibition that not only seeks to imagine alternative futures, but one that empowers the visitor to be part of the solution.
