Environment and Conservation Fund Green Building Education and Capacity Building Programmes - Green Building Tour to Alexandra House

Funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund and organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC), this programme enables the general public to hear directly from green building designers or operators, allowing them to gain a deeper insight into the green design concepts and operational strategies of some renowned green buildings.
Programme Highlights:
The 50-year-old Alexandra House (AH) is a 37-storey Grade A commercial complex in Hong Kong’s Central district, featuring central air conditioning and column-free floor plates. Since 1976, it has offered approximately 350,000 sq ft of premium office and retail space, alongside a variety of food outlets. The building is solely owned by Hongkong Land (HKL) and serves as a major hub, connected by four pedestrian bridge systems that operate 24 hours a day, making it a focal point of commercial activity in the area.
In response to the long-term carbon-neutrality goals set for 2050, AH has demonstrated how a timeless legacy can be revitalised through an Existing Building Commissioning (EBCx) framework. This includes chiller replacement, optimisation of the air-side system, AI-enabled operations, and an Integrated Facility Management Control Tower (IFMCT) designed for scalability across the portfolio.
By 2025, AH had achieved an annual electricity reduction of over 2 million kWh compared with the 2019 baseline, representing a 25.16% decrease in total energy consumption despite an approximate 20% increase in cooling demand. This measured performance is maintained through integrated monitoring and feedback-driven optimisation of controls.
The project was awarded “Triple Platinum”, the highest rating in BEAM Plus (EB), LEED (EBOM), and WELL Core certifications, and has received multiple green building awards, demonstrating balanced excellence in energy efficiency, environmental quality, and occupant well-being.
During this visit, participants will explore the sustainability journey and digital innovations of Alexandra House through an expert presentation, followed by a guided tour showcasing Hongkong Land’s sustainable operations at Alexandra House, the Central Monitoring Centre, and LANDMARK.

Important Notes
- Seats are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Upon submission through this Online Registration Form, a seat is reserved for you. Successful registrants will receive an email confirmation with details in due course.

- No Show / Cancellation – Cancellation must be made by email to [email protected] with justification on or before 8 October 2026, 12:00noon. Please quote your registration number in the email. Please note that if a registrant does not show up without giving advance notice, this would affect his/her eligibility to participate in future events.
- A certificate of attendance will be issued by email around a week after the event to participants who attend more than 80% of the event. For those attending via Zoom, they also need to complete the pre-event questionnaire and the post-event questionnaire to prove their presence; otherwise, a certificate of attendance may not be issued.
- Please be punctual. Latecomers will NOT be picked up and will NOT be allowed to join the visit.
- The event will be cancelled when the Typhoon Signal No.8 or above, Black Rainstorm Signal or Extreme Conditions is hoisted at 7:00am.
- All participants shall follow the safety rules laid down by the site's responsible person.
- HKGBC will arrange personal accident insurance for participants within the age range of 18-75. Persons outside this range may procure their own insurance if deemed necessary.
- Participants should note that neither HKGBC nor the parties concerned would accept liability in connection with this event.
- If you feel unwell, have a fever, or any other symptoms of sickness, please refrain from joining the visit.
- As the tour will be recorded and/or photos will be taken, by joining the tour, it is deemed that the participants give permission to HKGBC to place the photos and/or video footage of the tour in the public domain/social media for publicity and education purposes.
