Arup Recognised with Multiple Prestigious Awards at HKILA Awards 2025
Arup has been honoured with four prestigious awards at the Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects (HKILA) Awards 2025, including two Gold Awards and two Silver Awards. The achievements highlight the firm’s commitment to delivering sustainable, nature-positive and people-centred landscapes through integrated design and digital innovation.

The awards were presented at the HKILA ceremony held in Hong Kong on 10 April 2025, bringing together leading practitioners across the landscape architecture sector to recognise exemplary projects and forward-thinking solutions.
Among the highlights is the Gold Award in the Excellence in Landscape Transformation category for a feasibility study on nature-positive design for water bodies in the Northern Metropolis. The study revitalises 60 hectares of ecologically important wetlands, applying evidence-based strategies and nature-based solutions to enhance biodiversity, strengthen ecological resilience, and improve carbon performance. Through digital carbon assessment, the project establishes measurable baselines and supports targeted interventions such as expanding tree canopy, restoring native habitats, and introducing floating wetlands. These measures help transform water bodies into data-driven environmental assets while strengthening community connections with nature.

Arup also received a Gold Award in Excellence in International Planning and Research for the La Trobe University City Masterplan in Melbourne. The masterplan supports the university’s vision to transform its 255-hectare campus into a vibrant, sustainable university city integrating living, learning and working environments, anchored by a strengthened ecological network.
In addition, two Silver Awards were awarded for the Tung Chung Stream Revitalisation project—featuring Hong Kong’s first river park promoting a water-friendly culture—and the Masdar Net Zero Mosque, recognising excellence in master landscape planning and international project design.
