AECOM Launches “Committed to Delivering Sustainable Legacies: Our 2025 Sustainability Report”

Around the world, demand for sustainability and resilience has never been greater. The effects of worsening impacts from extreme climate events and increasing recognition of societal challenges compel everyone to act. AECOM’s 2025 Sustainability Report reaffirms the Company’s commitment to delivering a better world, highlights the progress made toward ambitious goals, and celebrates key accomplishments.

A business aligned with delivering a better world

Since adopting the Sustainable Legacies strategy, AECOM has made substantial strides in achieving net zero carbon emissions, improving social outcomes, enhancing governance, and integrating sustainable development and resilience across the Company’s work.

In FY24 AECOM achieved:
  • 73% of revenue aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), positioning the Company as an industry leader in sustainability
  • Maintained net zero operational emissions since FY22
  • Set net-zero emissions targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), placing AECOM among the first companies globally to receive such validation
  • 28% reduction in Scopes 1 and 2 emissions against a target of 60% reduction by 2030
  • 20% reduction in Scope 3 emissions against a target of 50% reduction by 2030
  • Obtained PAS2080 certification for the implementation of ScopeX™, becoming one of the first companies worldwide to have achieved this certification for an enterprise-wide decarbonisation programme

A data-driven sustainability strategy for smarter, greener infrastructure

Through its proprietary ScopeX™ approach, AECOM has set a goal of reducing the carbon impact of major projects by at least 50%. To address emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3, with Scope 3 making up 94% of the total footprint, this strategy embeds low-carbon criteria into procurement, sets science-based targets for top-emitting suppliers and supports them through the Company’s Supplier Engagement Programme.

To further advance sustainable infrastructure, the Company launched the AI-powered SMI Nature Risk Tool, which is designed to revolutionise how investors and developers manage and assess environmental risks and impacts. Together with other digital tools and datasets, AECOM is harnessing technology to drive smarter decision-making, delivering broader benefits for both people and the planet.

This commitment to innovation and measurable impact is already being reflected in major projects. A successful case study is the new Nissan Stadium, which is projected to save over 6,000 tons of carbon emissions. This project aims for LEED Gold certification upon completion.
