Swire Properties’ Green Kitchen Initiative Capacity Building Workshop

Launched in 2017, Swire Properties’ Green Kitchen Initiative facilitates sustainability conversations between portfolio management teams and F&B tenants. This Programme encourages collaboration to reduce energy and water usage, as well as improve air quality and waste management. As of October 2024, over 120 F&B outlets across Swire Properties’ portfolios in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland participated in the initiative, which shows the Programme’s growing popularity and recognition in the F&B industry.

Recently, Swire Properties took a step forward by partnering with Future Green, a F&B sustainability consultancy, to curate two full-day capacity building workshops. The workshops aim to foster best practices and facilitate knowledge sharing about sustainable practices in the F&B sector. The workshop attracted over 60 participants from 11 F&B groups, government agencies, and industry practitioners.

Through engaging games and activities, participants gained valuable insights into Swire Properties’ Green Kitchen Initiative framework, which includes fit-out guidelines and strategies for integrating sustainability considerations into F&B outlet’s operations. F&B tenants had the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with industry experts on a variety of topics, including sustainability management, energy and water efficiency, waste reduction and recycling, sustainable packaging and sustainable procurement.

The workshops also featured guest speakers who presented innovative sustainable solutions currently making a positive impact in the market, inspiring F&B tenants to explore further opportunities to enhance their sustainability performance. A highlight of the event was an interactive action planning workshop, where participants worked together to identify gaps in their operations and developed tangible actions to address these challenges.

The event concluded with a cocktail session featuring local ingredients, providing attendees with the opportunity to network and connect. The Green Kitchen Initiative continues to empower F&B tenants to implement impactful changes that benefit both their businesses and the environment, paving the way for a more sustainable future in the industry.
