Hong Yip’s Full Support in Sun Hung Kai Properties' efforts to promote the construction of the largest solar power network in Hong Kong

To achieve carbon neutrality, Hong Yip Service Company Limited (“Hong Yip”) has consistently upheld its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. In line with its parent company, Sun Hung Kai Properties, to build the largest solar power network in Hong Kong, Hong Yip pledges to achieve "carbon neutrality" by 2050 and promotes Hong Kong as a sustainable green city.

Hong Yip has installed solar power systems in its managed properties, covering various types of buildings including Sun Hung Kai Centre, Brill Plaza, Grand City Plaza, New Trade Plaza, Valais, Scenery Court, Europa Garden, Hoi Luen Industrial Centre and Mai Luen Industrial Building, etc. As of June this year, approximately 12,000 solar photovoltaic panels have been installed, generating about 5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, which is equivalent to the yearly electricity consumption of over 1,500 Hong Kong households.

To support long-term sustainable development, the Company plans to install an additional approximately 7,000 solar photovoltaic panels by the end of 2025, bringing the total to around 19,000 panels. At that time, about 8.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity will be generated annually, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of over 2,500 Hong Kong households, corresponding to the carbon dioxide offset of 0.17 million trees per year.

In addition to solar photovoltaic panels, Hong Yip has implemented plans to reduce carbon emissions. The property management teams effectively utilise solar energy devices to enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions through renewable energy, such as using solar-powered garden lights, solar wall lights, solar mosquito repellent lights and smart irrigation systems. Also, traditional lightings are replaced with energy-efficient LED tubes and LED ceiling lights, and sensors are installed to adapt to the actual environmental needs, thereby promoting energy efficiency in buildings and contributing to environmental protection.

Hong Yip will continue to promote using renewable energy, aiming to create a green community and build a sustainable living environment, to achieve its sustainability goal of "SERVICE for Tomorrow".
