Trane’s Decarbonisation Milestone with Customers Empowered by CenTraVac® Chillers
Eight years ago, Trane Hong Kong revolutionised the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) market by introducing low-global-warming-potential (GWP) ultra-high-efficiency Trane® CenTraVac® chillers, becoming the first supplier to fully transition to low-GWP refrigerants in the city.
With chillers featuring an average energy efficiency that is 10% higher than what is required by local ordinances, Trane helps its customers effectively reduce their operational footprint.
As of 31 July 2024, Trane has sold a total of 127 Trane® ultra-low-GWP CenTraVac® Chillers, providing a cumulative cooling capacity of 121,900 refrigeration tons (RT). These chillers are projected to reduce a combined 45,405 metric tons* of CO2, equivalent to planting over 1 million trees. The estimated total electricity savings could power 13,610 Hong Kong households for one year.
Trane’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in numerous award-winning projects such as Queensway Government Offices, LANDMARK and Alexandra House in Central, Two Taikoo Place, One Island East, Citygate, new Integrated Airport Centre and Third Runway Concourse at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), M+ and Hong Kong Palace Museum of West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD), Nina Tower, etc.
