Allied Sustainability and Environmental Consultants Group Limited (“AEC Group”) has been working closely with Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor (CRREM) since becoming its first official partner in Hong Kong and China at the beginning of 2023. Taking a step further towards a decarbonised built environment, AEC Group has stepped up its efforts to contribute to the preparation of CRREM's first-ever Chinese guideline: Setting Decarbonisation Targets – How to Apply the CRREM Pathways for China & Hong Kong, which was officially published on CRREM's Official website on 11 May 2023. Catering specifically to the Asia-Pacific market, the Chinese guideline serves as an essential tool to support companies of all sizes in their decarbonisation journey to understand more about net-zero target setting and manage transition risk with CRREM tool.

AEC Group believes that, with the most updated CRREM-SBTi aligned pathway as a guidepost, the launch of the Chinese guideline not only fosters multidisciplinary collaborations and accelerates the net zero transition of the real estate sector in the Asia Pacific region but also signifies a new milestone for AEC Group to advance its partnership with CRREM in the future.

Further to paving the way for a more sustainable built environment, AEC Group has also obtained its first EDGE Certification for the Y83 project in June which is the first Hong Kong hospitality establishment to obtain EDGE Level 1 certification, a green building certification launched by the International Finance Corporation. The EDGE certification is a great testament to AEC Group’s hard work and dedication to the project. Throughout the process, AEC Group’s green building consultants advised on a sustainable, resource-efficient strategy to transform this former hotel into a sustainable building with remarkable savings. Under AEC Group’s professional advisory services, Y83 achieved an impressive 81% reduction in embodied energy, 35% in water savings, and 21% in energy savings.
