Hactl ── "TO-GATHER" bonds staff and promotes green living
Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (“Hactl”) is committed to promoting a more sustainable future by integrating sustainability into every facet of its operations. In June 2023, Hactl has reinvented an under-utilized outdoor catering area within its SuperTerminal 1, to create a new multi-purpose space - “TO-GATHER”. This project is part of Hactl’s ongoing Green Terminal Programme launched in 2018.
Different departments joined hands in this revitalization project. “TO-GATHER” now offers space for staff to get together, take a break and relax after work, promoting staff wellbeing and enhancing staff engagement. The facility also includes a designated allotment area, where staff can learn about organic farming and try practicing it.
On the facility’s launch day, the opening event featured live music played with upcycled musical instruments and dance performances from ethnic minority groups from the local community. Local farmers from the O-Farm were also invited to share their knowledge and experience in growing food sustainably.
After the opening of “TO-GATHER”, each department will manage at least one of the plots in the allotment area. Hactl also cooperated with the O-Farm to organise several organic farming workshops to provide its staff with training and guidance on basic knowledge and skills of farming, including sowing, seedling, pest control and harvesting. After several months of hard work, the vegetables planted earlier this year, including cucumber, basil and chili peppers, have yielded a good harvest. Staff who have participated in the workshop all enjoyed it, and contributed enthusiastically throughout the cultivation process. By farming their own produce and sharing them with their colleagues and families, they are inspired to care for the nature, cherish food, and build a sustainable lifestyle.
