Towngas ESG Symposium attracts over 5,000 online and offline participants | Experts from various fields exchange ideas to propel the country and Hong Kong towards carbon neutrality


 
The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) partnered with the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA) to host the ESG Symposium 2022 on 11 November, which attracted over 5,000 participants from Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland and other countries/regions, both online and offline.

Mr TSE Chin-wan, Secretary for the Environment and Ecology of HKSAR, was invited to be the Officiating Guest at the Symposium. Over 20 other guests from various sectors, such as public utilities, finance and investment, social welfare and corporate governance, were also at the Symposium to give keynote speeches and participate in panel discussions on the hottest ESG-related topics. Also at the Symposium, Towngas became the first Hong Kong company to publish a directive document, the Climate-related and Nature-related Directive Guide, in response to the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework to review and disclose the ecological and biodiversity impacts, as well as the risks and opportunities arising from the operations of Towngas and its subsidiary, Towngas Smart Energy Company Limited (Towngas Smart Energy). The Guide also further aligns disclosures with the recommendations of the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) by disclosing financial information that is related to the potential opportunities and risks led by climate change.

of companies, sustainability practitioners, university academics, etc.


 


.Interactive panels were set up in the venue to introduce participants to energy-related trivia, such as raw materials for
gas production and sources of hydrogen in Hong Kong.

 
 

 
An exhibition was set up at the Symposium to showcase Towngas’ work and achievements in the areas of
environmental, social and corporate governance over the years.
