Frankie Chan, Managing Director of Trane Hong Kong (Center) receives the AEE Award from Bill Kent, Executive Director of AEE (Right) and Lori Moen, President of AEE in Washington D.C., USA.

Trane Hong Kong’s "Strategic Energy Project for Driving Hong Kong's Climate Action Plan 2030+" has been awarded the Innovative Energy Project of the Year Award for the Asia-Pacific Region by the Association of Energy Engineers® (AEE)! The remarkable energy saving and carbon emission reduction are recorded from the Clubhouse of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the Citygate and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology for their adoption of Trane CenTraVacTM Chillers @R514A!

The total electricity saving for this project is 2,837 MWh/year which represents the reduction of 1,986,500 kg CO2/year (equivalent to the planting of 86,370 trees). The average energy saving for individual building in this project (946 MWh/year) is much higher, nearly triple the target annual energy saving of air-conditioning system per commercial building (285 to 380 MWh/year), as set out in their "Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2030+". To conclude, the project result is extremely motivating and it certainly illustrates the effectiveness of the application of innovation and technology solutions in pushing forward the energy saving and climate action as well as generating maximum return on investment.
