Prof. Christopher CHAO is Vice President (Research and Innovation) and Chair Professor of Thermal and Environmental Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research covers areas of bioaerosol dispersion, deposition and resuspension in indoor air and the impact on infectious disease transmission; solar and waste heat driven advanced cooling systems; passive radiative cooling; nanofluid and bioinspired heat transfer. He has published more than 170 journal papers. Prof. CHAO has been serving as regional editor and editorial board member in several major journals in Built Environment and Energy. He is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences, Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He is also a Board Member of Cyberport.
Prof. CHAO received his First Degree from the University of Hong Kong, and Master's and PhD from UC Berkeley, all in Mechanical Engineering.
