ADVANCING NET ZERO IDEAS COMPETITION 2021 E-BOOK EPILOGUE This ANZ Ideas Competition has proven to be a successfully conducted competition On 28th June 2022, the WorldGBC has invited Ir Dr Cary Chan, JP, the Executive Director of HKGBC to share their strategy in driving the Advancing Net Zero agenda at their summit meeting. The participants of the summit were impressed with how the idea of an ideas competition can be developed to such a high profile event and be able to draw so much interest within the industry. Building on the success of the competition, the Council is formulating strategies on how to facilitate the industry in crafting their own targets and pathways to achieving the net zero vision. On 8 October 2022, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) has invited Ar. Prof. Ada FUNG, BBS, Chair of Organising Committee and Mr Patrick HO, Deputy Head, Sustainable Development from Swire Properties, to share our experience of this ANZ Ideas Competition in a Seminar entitled “Case Sharing – Gains on Design Competitions Beyond Solutions”. HKIA has been impressed by that fact that we have demonstrated how successfully conducted competitions can generate publicity, promote civic education, and elevate the business profile of the participated teams and promoters, in addition to the search of innovative ideas. 26
