Plant A Sensor: Part of the World Green Building Council’s Air Quality in the Built Environment campaign

According to the World Health Organisation, 91% of the world’s population live in places where air quality exceeds their guidelines.  7 million premature death is caused by polluted air annually. Air pollution is a growing health and environmental crisis, and the contribution of building and construction industry must be recognised to be mitigated.

“Plant a Sensor” is a global air quality monitoring campaign, led by the World Green Building Council and RESET, in collaboration with the Wilson Centre and the Earth Day Network. It promotes action to reduce air pollution from buildings by increasing awareness of air quality, and thus raising awareness of the urgency of a sustainable built environment. The campaign calls for participants across the world to install air quality monitors in and outside of buildings, publicly sharing the real-time data through the online data platform for later analysis.
