ATAL Achieves Two Innovation Awards in Hong Kong Awards for Industries

ATAL has recently won two esteemed awards at the “2021-22 Hong Kong Awards for Industries (HKAI): Innovation and Creativity” organised by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, in recognition of its continuous efforts in driving innovation and technological applications for the industry.

"As an advocate of innovation, we are honoured to have gained market recognition in the HKAI. These achievements are testimonials of our efforts in developing innovative and reliable solutions, providing customers with safe and convenient services, and contributing to the industry,” said Dr Otto POON Lok-to, Chairman of ATAL Engineering Group.

The two award-winning in-house developed solutions include the ATAL Multi-Stages Flocculation Sedimentation III (AMSFS III) and ATAL Negative Pressure Isolation Room (ATAL-NPIR)  that have won the “Innovation and Creativity Award” and “Innovation and Creativity Certificate of Merit” respectively. They represent a huge acknowledgement of the Group’s expertise in environmental and healthcare engineering that strives to bring impactful innovations to create a smarter and more sustainable future in Hong Kong.

Cutting-edge technology for environment conservation and water quality improvement
Leveraging in-house developed sewage treatment technology, AMSFS III is an all-in-one system that incorporates different wastewater treatment processes including coagulation, magnetic media mixing, flocculation and sedimentation, all installed and completed within a container. Leveraging the latest building technologies including Building Information Modelling (BIM), Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) and Multi-Trade integrated Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MiMEP), the small-scale and easy-to-transport system offers outstanding treatment performance, enhancing treated water quality in a more cost-effective, efficient, and environmental-friendly way. AMSFS III has been applied in sewage projects in Mainland China, and was recently granted the utility model patent by China National Intellectual Property Administration, contributing significantly to the development of the country’s wastewater treatment facilities.

Unique innovation to hospitals and the healthcare sector
Another in-house developed solution, ATAL-NPIR is a mobile ward that provides all-in-one isolation and accident & emergency (A&E) care solutions for patients regardless of location. A pre-built unit that is constructed based on MiC and BIM technologies,  ATAL-NPIR can be used as a mobile procedure room or operating theatre equipped with medical-grade negative pressure ventilation system to prevent air leakage, airborne contamination, and the spread of infectious diseases such as COVID-19. The unit is also equipped with various facilities and energy-saving devices to provide a comfortable environment for patients. ATAL-NPIR can be standalone or stacked, and is easy to transport and assemble, supplementing the supply of negative pressure wards in hospitals with short notice.
